Perfect Oxford B&B

“Wanted somewhere to stay overnight in Oxford which was close enough to the town centre and also to the gin distillery where we had a tour booked and ended up making the perfect choice. Sylvia wasn’t there when we arrived but the young lady that greeted us couldn’t have been more helpful.

Wonderful host and a delightful B&B!

My daughter and I gave just arrived home from a 3 night stay at The Coach and Horses Inn. We were in room 8 – set up for us as twin – light, spacious, clean and with so many extra touches – normal and recycling small bins in room, huge selection of teas and coffees with kettle, full length mirror, plenty of towels, 2 dressing-table surfaces, a comfy sofa and chair, portable electric fan. Mattresses were comfy and bedding crisp!
Breakfast choice was huge and hard to pick as it was all so good. We can recommend continental meat and cheese platter with croissants and also fruit salad with yoghurt and honey. Fresh and delicious.
Silvia is lovely. She welcomed us into her home and did everything possible to make sure we had a great stay.
We would absolutely recommend her B&B as a wonderful base for a trip to Oxford. It’s a pleasant flat 10-minute walk to the centre, and you pass beautiful restaurants, punting and colleges on the way. Thank you Silvia for looking after us, we would love to return one day.

A real gem in Oxford!

What can I say- Silvia is the most gracious hostess in an absolutely lovely home. We stayed 5 nights total- 4 at the beginning of a two week trip and one night at the end. We came with our daughter to visit our other daughter at Oxford. We could easily walk, bus or get a taxi to the center of town. The airport bus stop is right out front- easy to get to and from Gatwick or Heathrow. Our room was spacious, extremely clean and had everything we needed. We were in room 4- it was quiet, peaceful and comfortable. The bathroom was quite large as well. Silvias breakfasts were fresh, plentiful and very delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and recommend to anyone staying in Oxford.

A hidden gem in Oxford!!

We had an absolutely fabulous stay here in Oxford! Can not recommend it enough ? Silvia was so welcoming and treat us like family and all the other staff were very professional. The room was lovely, comfortable, clean and spacious which was perfect for out stay away. There were lovely touches around the room like sweets, range of drink options and bathroom toiletries. At breakfast we had a lovely Mexican granola dish (made by Silvia) and the quality of the English breakfast they serve was divine, there was also a continental breakfast option too! The location was perfect as it was not right in the city center but only about a 7min walk to Magdalen Bridge to the city centre. There was car parking on site and easy access in and out. Overall, the value for money was brilliant and you cannnot beat great hospitality like the coach and horses offer!
I can not recommend this establishment enough! Thank you silvia, we will definitely be back x

Incredible hospitality

We stayed for a day at Coach and Horses and enjoyed Silvia´s exceptional hospitality. The house was recently painted in pleasant colours, our room and bath were spacious and nicely decorated, the night was very quiet, breakfast was varied and plentiful and help with directions and recommendations helped to make the best of the couple of days at Oxford. Our stay was highlighted by the willingness and time Silvia devoted to recovering an iPad that we lost in the Ashmolean Museum; she recovered it from the lost and found items and sent it to our hotel in London by Royal Mail at no cost for us. In summary, we were treated as old friends and not as temporary clients.

A perfect entranceway to Oxford

The Oxford Coach and Horses was a wonderful place to stay for enjoying the town of Oxford. One can walk to everything and there is convenient shopping and dining on the same block. Silvia, the owner, is wonderfully kind and helpful. Her breakfasts were excellent. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a desk, chair, and small sofa for comfort. We felt very much at home staying here.

A visit to my Nephew studying in Oxford.

A lovely b&b. The room was beautiful. Plenty of space, overlooking a busy road, but, triple glazing on the windows so noise was minimal. Sylvia and her staff were so nice and welcoming. I will certainly return. It’s about 7/10 minutes walk to the High Street. Also, bus stops nearby if you don’t feel like walking. The breakfast choice was perfect all freshly cooked.

Superb B and B in Oxford

We stayed at Oxford Coach and Horses in October 2020 for seven nights. Although this B&B isn’t the cheapest in Oxford, it’s got numerous advantages that make it an outstanding value.

First, the location is excellent. On St Clement’s Street, just a short walk beyond the Magdalen Bridge, Oxford Coach and Horses is within easy walking distance of Oxford High Street and many colleges. This neighbourhood is just off the tourist trail, but is home to lots of good restaurants and pubs. Coach and Horses also provides free off-street parking in a courtyard behind its premises, which is an enormous advantage if you’re coming with a car and don’t want to pay for parking in town.

Second, our room (Room 8) was large, bright, airy, and clean. The bathroom was spacious and very well-appointed. Even with three people in the room, we never felt cramped or uncomfortable.

Finally, the service provided by Sylvia and her staff was friendly and efficient. There are several options offered for breakfast, and the food quality is high. A special commendation is in order for Sylvia’s fresh fruit salad, which is delicious.

I would recommend this excellent B&B without hesitation.

Fantastic stay!

I was on a Uni open day visit with my daughter and we stayed overnight here. Fantastic central location, with parking. We had room 8 which was large, lovely and clean. Overlooked the garden/car park at the back. Really lovely bathroom and had everything we needed for the night. The owner was lovely and very helpful indeed. Would recommend to our friends and anyone who wants a central place to stay. It was so nice, we will be going back! Thank you for a homely lovely stay.

Superb in every way

I stayed here on Friday 19 November. It was superb. Lovely room which was clean and tidy. Exactly as described with the en suite. The Lady who runs this is so nice and made me very welcome. She was helpful with directions and recommendations about Oxford as well. I will certainly go back again.

Fantastic experience!

Very warm welcome on a wet day. Able to leave our bags early and head off in Oxford. Offered umbrellas too! Great location and position. Calm, clean and homely.A real haven to return to after a long day sight seeing. Good range of drinks in room (all tastes thought of) and lovely toiletries in the huge and bright bathroom. The beds were so comfortable. Reluctant to leave them but the breakfast lured us downstairs. Delicious, fresh fruit salad, offered with honey and yoghurt, cereals, cooked breakfast with loads of choices and salmon, eggs, and asparagus too. Bright and spacious breakfast room with attentive and discreet staff. Would definitely return here again. The owner is so welcoming and kind. Thank you so much.

A sparkly jewel in Oxford

I absolutely loved staying here. The beds are like clouds, it’s spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are delicious. Sylvia is one in a million, so kind, so thoughtful, such a good host. A nice stroll from here gets you in shopping central but there’s also so many nice, artisanal places around and great little off-the-track pubs. Perfect stay, will be back, thank you x.

A little gem of a find

This B&B is all it promises, beautiful rooms of high quality, very tasteful, very clean. The owners and staff are lovely, so friendly. Although our room was at the front, the windows are twice double glazed, so it was very quiet. The breakfast is second to none. Everything has that extra touch, to make it special. We stayed for four nights, so we could take in the sights. Close enough to everything, just a short walk away. We hope to return in the summer.

As good as ever

This was our 3rd visit here and it was just as perfect as we remembered from 3 years ago.
The owner is just so lovely and accommodating and her breakfasts are superb and included in the price – fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, tea, coffee, continental, and a full English breakfast!
Our room was so clean and comfortable, with tea, coffee and snacks and a strong power shower in the en-suite. Despite being by the busy road we didn’t hear any traffic at all. Beautiful original beams in the bedroom.
It’s only a 5-10 minute walk over the beautiful Magdalen Bridge to the city centre.
Car parking was free too, a big plus as most hotels don’t offer this in Oxford.
We wouldn’t ever consider staying anywhere else in Oxford.

Beautiful accommodation, helpful and super friendly staff.

We spent a night at the coach & horses. Both before and during our stay, the host was very helpful with quick responses to emails and was helpful on the phone too. The city centre is a short walk away and there was free parking too. Breakfast was nice, the rooms are a good size, well decorated & comfortable with large, very clean & modern en suites. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly, welcoming hosts. Would highly recommend this stay for couples, groups or those traveling solo

Great B&B in Oxford, UK

Very nice B&B located in downtown Oxford. The room was large and clean with nice bed and bathroom. Quiet even though building was on main street. Private parking in gated lot behind house. Easy access in/out. Good breakfast with pleasant host providing the meal and service. Cost was reasonable resulting in value for this stay.

Wonderful homely stay at this B&B

Whenever I go to Oxford, this is the place I choose to stay. I haven’t yet met another hotel where the people are so friendly and make me feel so at home. The rooms are spacious and colourful, with each a character of their own. The breakfast is home made, filling and delicious, and whenever you come back in the afternoon there is someone to make you a cup of tea or coffee free of charge. The wonderful hosts Sylvia and Mike always go the extra mile to help me make the most of my trip. Can’t recommend it enough!

Lovely accommodation. All the right boxes ticked

My wife and I spent a most enjoyable weekend at this really well designed and conveniently located establishment. We didn’t have far to walk when exploring the city and everything about the hotel lived up to expectations. Our room was very pleasant and spacious and very clean. We had an extra large double bed and we were impressed with the eye-catching, softly shaded decor. We had the choice of a cooked breakfast or the buffet, or something of both, in the reception and communal entrance room. Very filling. Service by one and all was prompt and very friendly. On arriving we were given a warm welcome and when we next visit Oxford we will definitely check out the Coach & Horses again for room availability.
